Frequently asked questions
How do I find the IFSC code of my bank branch?
Select your bank, state, district and branch in the search above, or type the branch name or area in the filter box. The IFSC appears with the full address. It is also printed on your cheque book and passbook.
Where can I find my IFSC code?
It is printed on your cheque leaves and passbook, shown in your bank app or net banking under account details, and listed on the RBI website.
What happens if I enter the wrong IFSC?
If the code does not exist, the transfer is rejected. If it belongs to another branch of the same bank, the money usually still reaches the account, because the account number is the key field. Always double-check both.
Do IFSC codes change after bank mergers?
Yes. After mergers (for example, Oriental Bank of Commerce into PNB, or Syndicate Bank into Canara Bank), branches were given new IFSC codes. Use the current code shown by the bank.
How up to date is the branch list?
The branch list comes from the open Razorpay IFSC dataset, which is compiled from RBI publications and was last refreshed in September 2026. New or recently closed branches may take a little time to appear.
